Mother and Daughter Share the Flight Deck in Aer Lingus First

Ireland’s flag carrier Aer Lingus has announced a historic milestone after a mother and daughter operated the same flight together for the first time, serving as captain and first officer.
Captain Sonya and her daughter Lara, who served as first officer, operated the Dublin–Frankfurt flight together, marking a first in the airline’s history. Aer Lingus described the occasion as a “rare and special event” and congratulated the pair on what it called “a truly remarkable achievement.”
Speaking after the flight, Captain Sonya said, “It was a great honour to have my daughter Lara by my side today as my first officer. It has been an unforgettable day that I will always carry in my heart.”
